My migrant story

Do you want to learn how to tell your migrant story? Here it is a workshop expecially designed for you: 7 days in Torino, from the 8th to the 15th of may 2012, looking for how to built, write and tell stories of national and international immigration.

The workshop is designed up to 24 participants from various European countries. Each person will have to come with an "object" connected to some family internal or external migration histories (photos, videos, object, super8mm films). The project has been granted by the LLP Grundtvig Workshop

- Participants can come from any country of the European Union;
- voyage and accomodation are fully covered and handled by Scuola Holden, for all participants.
- no age limit.
- the general language for the workshop will be English.
- -    Italians and Extra-EU citizens can participate by paying a fee of 250 euro, (not covering Travel and Accomodation costs).

The topic of the workshop will be the use of oral and written narratives to give voice to the stories
of national and international migration.

The workshop is designed for:
- first-and second-generation migrants with permanent residence in the countries of the
European Union
- for adult learners interested in storytelling and creative writing
- for educators and teachers interested in learning educational models linked to the narrative.

During the workshop each participant will develop and build a history tied to the theme of the
workshop, built from its own "experience", but it can also contain elements of fiction.
During the week participants will follow two paths, theoretical and practical.
The course is designed to provide theoretical reflections that participants can use for their stories -
a meeting with writers and authors \ visits of Torino locations with high immigration population \
meetings and discussions with immigrants from different backgrounds and different ages.

How to participate

We will select the 20 participants among all the applications we will received until the 28th of February 2012.
In order to be selected we need to received for this deadline:

- a short story of migration – no longer than 9.000 characters, space included, in English language.
- a short description of an object connected to the story (like a photo, a super8 film, a small memory object etc). The participants will have to bring this object at the workshop.

You can send all these documents at europe@scuolaholden.it.
The selected participants will be contacted in march 2012.
