Save the Story

The School Holden has signed an important publishing initiative with L'Espresso Group: a new series of illustrated books called Save The Story that collects the great classics of literature re-interpreted and re-told by great contemporary authors.

Save the Story is a mission in book form: saving great stories from oblivion by telling them to new generations. It is born from the need to safeguard the transmission of the heritage fo the great classics of World literature for young readers. The result is the personal tale of a common and universal story, which is joined by drawings by talented illustrators.

The series debuted on September 30th in bookshops, with the release of the first two: “La storia di Don Giovanni” told by Alessandro Baricco and illustrated by Alessandro Maria Nacar, and “I promessi sposi” by Umberto Eco with illustrations by Marco Lorenzetti .

In November, “La storia di Cyrano de Bergerac” told by Stefano Benni with illustrations by Miguel Tango was realeased.


On December 9th it was Andrea Camilleri’s turn, with “La storia de Il Naso” (originally written by Gogol), illustrated by MajaCelije.
On March 17th “Delitto e Castigo” was published, rewritten by Abraham Yenoshua and illustrated by Sonja Bougaeva, while "Gilgamesh" by Yiyun Li was released in bookshops on April 7th, alongside the story of “Antigone” told by Ali Smith and illustrated by Laura Paoletti.

Jonathan Coe is the author of "Gulliver's Travels”, illustration by Sara Oggi. In July "Capitano Nemo" arrived, written by Dave Eggers and illustrated by Fabian Negrin, and in December is been published "Re Lear" by Melania Mazzucco (illustrated by Emanuela Orciari).
